International Youth Convocation in Yeosu
Dear Y’s Youth across the world!
Welcome to the 17th International Youth Convocation in Korea! we invite you to spend seven days (6-12 August 2018) in Yeosu, one of Korea’s most beautiful marine city. With over 100 participants expected to attend, here, you will meet new friends and experience new adventures.
Yeosu means “beautiful water”. It is a coastal city located at the most southern part of Korea, and is known for its pristine, scenic views and endless stretches of coastline.
The city has been a tourist hotspot since the 2012 World Expo which promoted the importance of marine resources worldwide.
The archipelago of Yeosu has over 300 picturesque islands. That’s amazing! There are mumerous cruises that take place each day to view these islands, including views of the famous Odongdo Island and the Hyangiram Hermitage-a small temple located on a coastal cliff.
Yeosu also boasts the Maritime & Fisheries Science Musuem, located next to the ocean. It is an ideal place to learn about the local marine ecology.
Follow in the footsteps of history by viewing the historical sites relating to Admiral Yi Sun-Sin one of the most heroic and respected figures in Korea history.
Also, enjoy the magnificent night views of the beautiful port city! The hills of Dolsan Park provide a great panoramic view of the downtown area, Yeosu Port, the Lighthouse, and the 450-meter long Dolsan Bridge.
Q : “Is Yeosu only a beautiful city?”
A : “Sure! But Yeosu also has lots of delicious local food.”
